Whats Happening With Car Insurance?

So is there anything be done to protect the consumer?

There will be no dramatic lowering of car insurance costs as part of the Government’s attempts to address spiraling premiums, Minister of State at the Department of Finance Eoghan Murphy has said.

Doesn’t sound like it!!!

Is there anyone trying to have their voice heard?

Groups including the Anti-Austerity Alliance-People Before Profit have organised a protest outside Leinster House to coincide with the debate.

The demonstration will also feature representatives from student and taxi drivers’ groups, who have campaigned against rising insurance costs.

If it is getting this far surely there will have to be an investigation in the industry, a legitimate one at least.

Any horror Stories?

When someone rings up and quoted €6,000 or told to buy a newer car, that is not a sustainable way for the insurance industry to work.

“We don’t have the money to go around buying newer cars. If our cars are NCT’d and safe enough to be on the road they should be good enough to insure.

They’re taking the piss now

Stop The Insurance Rip-Off

Insurance premiums have spiraled out of control in Ireland. Over the next 8 weeks I am going to be reporting on all that is happening (or not happening) in the exciting world of car insurance. I personally have experienced a dramatic increase in my insurance premium and cannot figure out how it could have increase so dramatically. I have no penalty points and no claims  against my name so surely my premium should be going down.

We would love to hear your stories so we can get a better picture of real life experiences around the country. With enough information together we can try and get some real answers to why it has spiraled out of control.
